HUD-Approved Warranties for FHA Loans
When a homebuyer receives a mortgage insured through the Federal Housing Administration program, the FHA requires that the home meet certain conditions. New homes must be sold with a warranty from the builder.
HUD requirements for new home warranties include:
- 1-year surety coverage against defects in the workmanship and materials.
- 2-year surety coverage against defects in systems delivery
- 10-year coverage against structural defects in the home.
